3gs Yellow Screen of Death HELP!

hi there guys, i've got mates phone thats got yellow screen of death, i've tried, putting in dfu mode holding home/power button , restarting etc... disconnected battery still yellow screen, itunes doesn't pick either? ideas apart take genius bar because can't afford fixed.
