Superdrive caddy/enclosure & MP3 ripping

i wondering if placed cd/dvd unit external caddy/enclosure connected mbp via usb cable, able rip mp3s cds normally, i.e. though superdrive inside mbp?

or there limitations should aware of?

i've got bunch of original albums rip them listening in itunes.

 

it work too, audio cd still visible itunes, suffices ripped , transcoded.
