Help with Memory Card

i'm new both macbook pros , photography. took photos digital camera today , learned how transfer them memory card iphoto.

question this.....what correct , safe way me "eject" or "remove" memory card mbp without causing harm card or computer?

pull out of mbp's slot, or there things click on before removing card?

to eject memory card can either secondary click icon on desktop , choose "eject", or can drag icon down trash icon on dock turn eject symbol, , eject memory card. hope helps!
