What is stealing my capacity?

i don't save onto mbp's ssd run lot of ram heavy tasks eat virtual memory. other day, noticed free capacity drop on 70gigs down 25! figured swap file. when restart mac, don't space back. thing eating valuable ssd space?

have trim enabled on crucial m4. mac give me capacity after it's done trimming? leave computer on idle overnight...

for space issues not explained above, there few things can try, of may or may not apply:

• begin restarting computer first step. resolves issues.
• for time machine users on notebooks running lion, space may being consumed time machine local snapshots, can disabled.
  os x lion: time machine's "local snapshots" on portable macs
• search finder see if space being consumed large file or several large files. adjust 50gb in illustration whatever size deem appropriate.

• use omnidisksweeper, jdisk report, disk inventory x, daisydisk or grandperspective see how space being used on drive. of these apps may show more detail others, try several.
• check drive disk utility: using disk utility verify or repair disks
• try re-indexing drive: spotlight: how re-index folders or volumes
