Adapter for iMac second monitor


my friend going giving me old computer monitor can run dual monitor on 2011 imac editing purposes. naturally appreciate want make sure correct adapter it.

it's old monitor , can 1650x1020 resolution me since imac screen still going primary. believe monitor can handle vga hdmi out window. this correct adapter current imac's vga?

if so, adapter work? rather not have pay $30+ adapter when 1 half price amazon or something.
