Installing SSD in Mac Pro

hi

i've won mac pro on ebay, want install ssd drive replace stock drive once arrives. im wondering if mac sata 1 or 2? know if 1 there issues using sata 3 ssd drive find sata 2 right?

model number a1186

you have mac pro 3,1. uses sata 2.

owc drives i've installed in models such these reach 180mb/s, or 350mb/s in raid 0 (those numbers approximate). hdds i've installed see 35 - 60mb/s. reason, ssd worth it.

if you're going new ssds , price not of issue, i'd recommend these: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/ssd/owc/mercury_electra_6g/. way, if ever upgrade machine sata 3, these show full potential. these drives supposedly have better raid support: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/ssd/owc/mercury_extreme_pro_6g/, i've used electra drives before no problems.

not forget adapter: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/newertech/adptadrv/ adapter allow 2.5" ssd (owc or other brand) function seamlessly drive sleds in pro.

luck!
