After Effects: Vertical Mask Path

another newbie question regarding after effects:

i'm creating kinetic typography project , playing around bringing text in sides of screen first creating mask , setting path along numerous keyframes. i've been able moving text horizontally, having issues when try same vertically.

in screenshot below, trying bring words "sellers sell" bottom of screen shown. when draw mask , try create path along it, rotates text. i need text remain upright entire time. doing incorrectly? thank in advance!

the text slides up? animate position , easy ease smooth stop via keyframes instead of using mask.
