Quicktime Problems - New Mac User on brand new MBA.

hi all,

bought first mac today (mba 13" 256 i7)

trying figure stuff out , learning how things. 1 question have have tv shows saved on ext hard rive , quicktime won't play them. says missing codecs.

have downloaded div x mac divx fixed things on pc laptop. whilst can play video through divx player questions are;

1. how native quicktime take codecs?
2. there alternative mac native player use instead better quicktime other divx player?

 

vlc play anything.
