hello,
picked older mba (2009 far can tell) 2.13ghz 128gb ssd. found sorta sitting around office , took ownership of it.
i'm interested in upgrading without breaking bank. want increased speed , performance. i've been looking around , seems ssd upgrade way go. looking @ owc 60gb sdd swap $159.
noticed there other brands out there runcore, kingspec, supertalent , sorts of other weird brands i've never heard of. read speed = 80mb/sec , write speed of 40mb/sec. not sure if these reliable.
got advice , experience can pass along? keep price under us$200.
cheers,
j
i think ssd you've identified make candidate improving speed. owc mercury auro pro 1.8″ preferable due optimal garbage collection (sandforce controller), make drive perform on time, done trim instructions in os.
since trim not available on os x without kernel extension hack it's nice have garbage collection in drive self.
not know if other drives mentioned have garbage collection or if require trim hack.
anyway... maybe should try stretch 120 gb model? <120 gb models tend have lower performance due lower amount of nand chips (less chips can used parallelizing data transfer).
