Help resizing a DMG?

i have dmg copy of cf card camera... has raw images dec. , jan. , want break 2 smaller dmg images... 1 images dec. , 1 images of jan.

combined dmg 24gb , read only. made copy work on it.

first converted rw dmg using hdiutil in terminal.

combined rw dmg 32gb (bigger ).

mounted it, deleted unwanted images, (the dmg shows 21gb available when mounted), emptied trash , unmounted it.

of course rw dmg still 32gb, contents consume less 12gb.

how resize dmg 32gb 12gb?

if use hdiutil resize, gives me error "hdiutil: resize request below minimum size allowed" (it won't accept size... 12g, 24g, less new bloated 32g size!).

what?

 

i figured out... had mount 32gb dmg had removed images , use disk utility create new read image of it. created new disk image of right size... 11gb.
