Help with playing iPhone music through car

i purchased 2012 honda fit not long ago.. has little black cord plugs usb portion of white charger cord iphone 4.. other end plugs phone! enables me hit "aux" button car , it'll play podcasts, music, etc. through speakers.

problem when want play music. have unplug phone, select album, hit play, , plug in phone. otherwise plays same random tracks in same order random artists. when click "music" while plugged in, shows grayed out message , doesn't allow me select anything. kind of weird.

there solution this? maybe app can download allow me select music while it's plugged in?

it's annoying! , no, don't have bluetooth options in car! trying keep purchase on cheap!

check stereo manufacturer's handbook. should "made iphone" or "works iphone", or ipod instead of iphone of course.

if not anywhere in instruction manual (usually on front cover) doesn't support
