Java fax on a Mac?

hi all

though adore iphone, i'm long-time pc user , don't have experience macs. i've been thinking coding simple java fax service myself (to able send/receive faxes without needing paid service in link - hope it's possible!), want compatible macs. there significant difference in use of java pc? or coding similar?
