Scanning photo albums with a DSLR and copy stand?

hi folks,

have client wants photo albums digitized. first 2 albums weren't bad able remove pages , scan each image.

albums 1970s , if you're familiar time period in photographic nostaglia - i'm sticky pages clear plastic on top. it's near impossible remove photos , i've been pulling plastic , flipping each page onto scanner , scanning without issue.

aside longer processing time steps, main concern whether or not can achieve better or similar results dslr setup?

because of sticky lined old school paper, photos on adjacent pages have small lines through them (from impacting plastic impacts photos). no means in terrible condition, when scanned, shows of course.

i've seen people can use actual copy stand or tripod.

wondering if has had success?

i've been scanning in @ 600 dpi. these older photographs higher isn't worth it. that's got me thinking using pentax. have 50mm 1.7 lens, plus few others. if quality same, i'm sure workflow speedier.

again, main concern outputting quality scan or image client. if dslr won't work i'll continue scanning. realize photos old , won't pristine, it's memories.

cheers,
keebler

this come across obvious, need heavily defused lighting accurate results, scanning yield best results, if risk damaging photos in trying scan them, take time , use dslr.
