iPhone 4 AT&T JB 4.2.1 > 5.0.1 Custom IPSW Mac - redsn0w or PwnageTool?

welp, time tortoise current. recent research has gotten me far, , apparently have decision make app create custom ipsw. see way more mentions of redsn0w, have used pwnagetool in past, , options include cydia apps in image , seems have more options "activate" etc. @ point matter app use?

make sure have correct: redsn0w "stitch" saved 5.0.1 blob in ipsw file can simple opt-restore in itunes, if use pwnagetool, have enter dfu mode restore? end result same? have been reading issues (mobilesubstrate, etc.) people had redsn0w january; have issues been solved?

if have 5.0.1 hashes , apticket saved, can restore it, choose set new
