Picture in text on iMovie

i'm editing senior video @ high school , had cool idea have "2012" appear on screen "mylo xyloto" coldplay plays. it'd ideal have photos inside text, seen below:



idea create separate video of photos playing rapidly , place them inside text of "2012". "2012" appear video behind text plays.

there way using imovie 11?

 

not in imovie afaik. think may need final cut that.
