Why does the brightness sensor on the iPhone suck so bad?

of time works reasonably well, find myself having go settings , mess slider constantly. instance, i'm typing in darkened room, screen bright it's making me squint. earlier today, screen dim in sunlight had adjust slider right now.

well fair, haven't find gadget or electronic can auto-brightness right. either dark in bright room, or bright in lit room.

it's not adapts eyes, yeah .. disable it. garbage feature on phone, tv, camcorder etc.
