Verizon iPads: Anyone seeing the LTE status indicator *before* signing up for data?

verizon's coverage maps indicate should receiving lte in area, still seeing 3g status indicator. i'd see if can lte before purchase data plan. there has not purchased verizon data plan seeing lte status indicator?

when turned on new vzw ipad hour ago saw verizon lte symbol in upper left , have not signed yet. it's turned on default , i'm guessing it's cell phone before it's activated in connects network automatically doesn't work until service activated account.
