as may know i'm looking @ buying 15" mbp , couldn't decide whether or not go hi-res or not. went store , tried them both , found hi-res made things small me. main things using safari or google chrome. found text on websites small, , text in search bar , bookmarks bar small. people suggested zoom on each page, , whilst may solution wasn't me. larger default don't have zoom every time opened page, plus if zoom lose part of screen. quality of screen far superior though imo.
anyway, went store today try hi-res again see if used it. still had same issue though, text size on websites , google searches (i use web lot). apple guy tried suggest sorts there wasn't solution happy with, right until leave thinking i'm either going have wait see if new mbp's have retina display, or go poorer quality screen. guy messing settings , found satisfactory solution me. in safari preferences there's option set minimum text size. set 14 , perfect. large enough read without destroying layout of web pages. changing minimum text size higher 14 did start make web pages funny, don't need go higher 14. finding made mind easily, i'm going go hi-res glossy. prefer richness of colour in glossy compared anti-glare,and reflections don't bother me.
need figure out how migrate os , software etc when swap out hdd ssd (see other thread http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1324349)
hi res glossy here. video rocks video editing (15" 2.66 i7 2010) , applications google earth incredible on screen. enjoy it!
