Square Putting iPads in NYC Taxis, Unveils Full-Fledged Register App for Retail Stores

credit card processing company square rolling out trial of payment platform in new york city taxicabs using ipads custom cases payment terminals, the new york times reports. system outfitted in 30 cabs start, main benefit being ease of use. passengers can swipe card @ time during journey, sign screen finger, , have receipt emailed or texted them.

in addition new taxi initiative, square has introduced new register app retail stores. app lets brick , mortar merchants fill app pre-priced items, , allowing merchants wirelessly print receipts , open cash drawer when purchase made. additionally, square has included extensive analytics feature register.
square processing $4 billion in payments per year, double processing in october 2011.
