any tips or suggestions? headed out there coming weekend. have saturday morning wander around myself , rest of trip spent sight-seeing wife. looking shouldn't miss. we're going see alamo , river-walk boat tour that's we've planned of now.
see alamo if must, should out of downtown , avoid downtown tourist traps. there better restaurants , free parking outside of downtown.
mcnay art museum must-see. other museums fine well. botanical gardens nice (and close mcnay) although not @ maximum lushness yet.
toyota factory has great tour tram need reservations , no photography allowed: http://www.toyotatexas.com/tour/tours/tourres.aspx
san antonio zoo quite good.
if funky, there's southtown , area near king william has little shops , art galleries , restaurants. try madhatter's tea sandwiches.
or, if you're history , serene 300-year-old buildings on acres of national park system land, see 1 or 2 of 4 missions (other alamo).
comanche lookout park: http://www.sanantonio.gov/parksandrec/directory_comanche_lookout.aspx
barbecue: lots of random places, frankies (fredericksburg, tx),
salt lick (driftwood, tx), city market , luling bar-b-q (luling, tx).
quadrangle @ fort sam houston great place shoot. there animals wandering around inside last time there. however, call ahead because may not granted access base.
government canyon, state park 35 minutes downtown, has excellent hiking , mountain bike trails. technical , non-technical.
opening day texas league baseball april 5.
