iPad 3 case for kids

we have original ipad original apple case, skipped ipad 2 , don't know smart cover. can tell, protects screen, , functions stand, doesn't protect of ipad. right?

can recommend case protect entire ipad, not screen? interested in hold use 9 year-old might forget careful it.

alternatively, there covers can used in conjunction smart cover?
