Having trouble getting Sony Bravia to recognize Macbook Pro

have sony bravia , macbook pro mini display port.

bought apple attachment connect mini display port hd15 cable ferrite core. plugged hd15 cable rear of tv says rgb. fits well, still seeing 2 external inputs tv: dvd player , cable box. tv doesn't seem know have computer attached it. user manual tv says should change output signal pc resolution. tried that. don't know doing. want display powerpoint presentation , set of photos iphoto on tv sunday (january 29, 2012). able when working? thought use tv external computer monitor. need step step instructions including order turn tv , computer on, , when connect cable mini display port. have read should use pf7 on macbook, don't think may different version of macbook mine. mine doesn't seem have "mirror display" icon on of function keys... can help?

 

always include specific tv model these threads. suspect resolution problem stated. need find 1 tv supports.
