hi there mac pro's, wonder if pick collective brains please.
i'm after bit of break down on programs , processes have downloaded on quest build website.
started in notepad learning html , css, viewing in safari- honest thought there wasn't great deal more it! know, how wrong was.
learning php. search has led me download , start trying grips netbeans. there have been led download mamp, included mysql , apache. running os x 10.6.8.
have basic understanding of these are, not do/ how work, essential progressing- feel bit out of depth. in, basic process of design, testing , hosting , how these programs combine site up. there else need missing? did i/ need mamp , netbeans? need install 'php language' such, or code , browser recognises it? or 'p' in mamp , have it?
might sound daft, can find little info related want know! also, when ready host site, how site files server- send them whoever has domain name then, or done through computer/ files somehow?
know apache , mysql too- mean think 1 server , 1 database, info go on database example... server hold files of info, or send it?!
last thing, know if there standard on saving site files make easier host. matter how arranged if link each other? guess i'm asking is, assume when host site send 1 file domain people, matter how inner files arranged , saved?
ahh, sorry, must frustrating read too! if these lame n00b posts head in, please accept apologies , move on, help, explanations or guidance appreciated! bet loads of irrelevant, knowing should help!
thank you, thank you, thank you!
you're asking lot of questions on map. responding them take novella @ least.
go , figure out first thing feel need understand progress. 1 question, , i'm sure can you.
i'll started. mamp standalone server implementation apache, php, , mysql preconfigured.
mac
apache
mysql
php
it's meant used testing locally, , easy setup , started with.
mamp used because php server side language. know how can create html file in text editor , open directly in browser? won't work php. php code must parsed server , results of script sent server browser. parsing part mamp comes in.
also, don't afraid google. there tons of tutorials out there explain kind of basic "getting started" questions have. try looking "learning php/mysql tutorial".
