i taking 24" imac on flight , followed instructions here order torx tool , use credit card remove stand, took out last screw, guess wasn't locked position, , stand came off piece stand screws (and gets re-attached to) retracted inside! have no idea now. have tried hit latch , thing rotate out no luck. ugh!! godsent.
if theoretically take whole case apart (which reaally don't want do), latch/stand area more accessible? or imac destined spend rest of days resting precariously on desk no stand?

unfortunately, no, not in experience. i've had luck using piece of thick wire, able bend , feed through on of holes in stand , out, , using pair of pliers , lever system pull piece out until lock in place using card need have that. wasn't easy, did work eventually.
