Organizing data between OSX, Win7, SSD

hi all

first post here.

i'm buying 2012 imac. have had mbp past 2 years. had thoughts on how organize data new system.

have:

i'd equip imac ssd only, no other internal drive. ssd has apps , os's. i'd use external thunderbolt hdd , leave connected 24/7 (is bad?) store movies, music, documents. way, have easy access mbp aswell. there people trying such setup im proposing here?

other thoughts when add win7 loop:

can't have external hdd formatted hfs if want win7/bootcamp able recognize it. other alternative ntfs osx drivers, other options time capsule don't work then. possible partition external hdd in hfs , ntfs partitions?

i've written above think solution, i'm looking ways conveniently organize data can exchange between devices/os's. i'd input on people running similar setups or ssd systems.

reading.
