Gmail on iphone 4S

i have iphone 4s , have gmail setup exchange. receive emails find had question how "properly" delete emails. told if swipe , delete email end in "all emails folder" , that's not best way delete them. taught instead click edit, highlight email , click move, move "delete" folder. can go gmail account whenever , purge deleted folder truely delete email. correct?
