MKVs Converted to M4V With Apple TV 3

i've enjoyed old first-generation apple tvs (the old silver ones) , use them stream music , videos via ethernet itunes on imac.

problem when attempt encode occasional mkv m4v in handbrake. naturally, since it's true h264 file, play in itunes, on imac itself.

unfortunately, old apple tvs did not have enough "umph" , streaming these hd-quality videos impossible.

wonder if new apple tv single-core a5 processor (and whatever video they've installed) capable of streaming these videos.

know? has had luck doing on recently-retired second generation atvs?

i don't want derail thread bad - have 3 apple tv1's , stream 720p rips of blu ray movies fine.
