Retina Display - Will maps be low res?

something i've been thinking - i've been playing around google maps , new vector based mapsgl (similar vector maps on android) , realize resolution-independent, i.e. can shown crisply @ resolution. higher resolution on new ipad however, take tile-based maps regular ipad , make them smaller. can't imagine google going redraw map tiles @ 300dpi, how think apple going address maps text 3x smaller? i'd guess pixel doubling on map tiles or that... i'd love true 300dpi maps , satellite image viewing.

that's interesting.

maps sections seems imply graphics , images amazing on retina display street view suspiciously high resolution. street view has never looked high quality when use it.
