MBP and Mini don't see each other on net

hardware: mbp 15.4 april, 2010 model , mac mini base model july 2011.

while able, through bonjour, share files , map "drive" other machine, either way.

month ago noticed mini stopped showing mbp, , mbp not seen mini. don't recall changing @ time, have , not recall it.

suggestions on places troubleshoot?

system preferences > sharing > file sharing place start.
"net" mean network or internet?
