For the last two days my MBP fans have been going off like crazy despite no changes.

for last 2 days mbp fans have been going off crazy despite no changes in type of usage or using it. doesn't matter surface i"m using on or if i'm using on vented. i'm doing pretty basic stuff - browsing web, office suite, etc. it's been past 2 days. fan issue? should take genius bar for? mbp year old , it's past 2 days fans have been going off crazy.

install istat pro accurate readings of temps , fan speeds, among other things.

if have increased cpu/gpu temps, launch activity monitor , change "my processes" @ top "all processes", click on cpu column heading once or twice, arrow points downward (highest values on top). see may consuming system resources.

if drive active or cpu utilization high (possibly increased temps , fan speed) when you're not running major apps, can check see if spotlight indexing looking @ menu bar icon:

when it's indexing, may see increased cpu , ram usage mds , mdworker processes in activity monitor.

if find fans spinning without increased heat, try resetting smc.
