so, attempted clean-install of lion last night due problems having system-wide. before did, backed everything, proceeded make bootable lion thumb drive via directions on apple's website:

file downloaded 1mb though... supposed bigger?
anyway, after that, tried boot via thumb drive put file on, , didn't work. and, had erased hard drive, forced use lion internet recovery complete lion install. worked, it's slower native install!
i'm either missing steps, or steps i'm taking aren't correct. great!
the "lion recovery disc assistant" creates external version of internal recovery assistant. when booting external assistant, still needs connect internet download installation files.
create actual external full installation disc, follow tutorial:
