Apple Care Education Discount when bought at later date?

hey everyone,

have macbook pro i've had short while. when @ apple store purchasing received education discount laptop didn't take apple care right away because told have until 1 year warranty before lose chance buy apple care.

when asked employee sold me laptop if still education discount apple care if bought @ later date said wouldn't problem. i'm talking works apple reseller , she's saying need pay full price apple care if want it.

can clarify who's right?

i'm in canada, btw, if matters.

 

resellers don't have honor apple's student/gov't/company discounts.

@ (real us) apple store worked out, regularly sold discounted applecare itself.
