Is there a Kindle E-Book Library

i have kindle (in addition idevices, lol). i've perused books via amazon prime lending library, , appears crap (remind me cancel before 30-day auto-renewal kicks in, ha ha ha).

i've checked out local county public library selection of e-books, , i'm underwhelmed selection.

know of larger, simple use, inexpensive, , current e-library service or portal?
