hi folks
have powerful windows 7 tower (core i7 950@ 3.07ghz, 6gb ram, nvidia gtx 460 2gb). however, reaching end of warranty , looking downsize mac mini, because
- former imac owner, miss mac os x (although windows 7 has been solid , stable os)
- done near gaming envisaged
- want computer takes less physical space.
don't imacs (glossy screen/not fan of in 1 model), looking @ mac mini server model, , chances hold off until inevitable ivy bridge update, have few questions regarding performance aspects of mini
1) make mkv/ handbrake: main use horsepower of windows tower @ moment transcoding blu ray library digital copies, using make mkv, , handbrake. has had experience of transcoding mac mini? imagine dual core models may bit slow blu rays quad core models? processor heavy task use for.
2) facetime camera: recommend half decent webcam work facetime mac mini? have logitech c910 have read few reviews/comments on here not working macs?
3) video playback: of movies in digital format encode @ 720p. mini handle playback of 1080p without problems (moreso ones intels integrated graphics)
replies appreciated, cheers
i don't have experience first 2 question, presume, quad-core mac mini faster transcoding via makemkv or handbrake.
current mac can play 1080p content (except maybe badly embedded flash movies) encapsulated in .mkv container.
2007 imac c2d 2 ghz cpu can play 1080p content, either using h.264 codec or editing codec.
