Customizing Scrollbar in OSX 10.6

is possible make scrollbar more visible in snow leopard creating new system graphic file replace default file?

documented can replace files "indicator_large.png" in order change dock appearance. can similar done make vertical scroll bar more distinct? can barely tell is.

i'm not sure doing asking for. if select system preferences->appearance. appearance combo box @ top of panel has choices of blue , graphite. find blue easier see scroll bars.
