CPU usage and %

hi all,

i've got 2011 mbp (bought in late july) that, knowledge, has 4 core i7. remember last mbp (a c2d) regularly see processes using >150% since had 2 cores (theoretical limit being 200%).

however, i'm using handbrake archive dvds i've got laying around, , routinely see breaking 550% barrier. how's possible? i'm assuming 4 core limit should 400% (4 cores x 100% each) - where's 150+% coming from?

clear, i'm not freaking out, i'm curious there's don't know , i'd learn it. all!

(sidenote: checked again , @ 720%...interesting!)
