Original iMac Networking


i hope found right spot post. couldn't find prehistoric section.

happened; original imac (i think has been nicknamed blueberry) mother has been using word processor has reached point of forced hibernation. using macbook pro purchased last year , trying pull documents off of imac. tried using thumb drive, , power external hard drive, both pulled error message reads, "the software needed use usb device 'usb serial-ata bridge' cannot found. please refer device documentation install necessary software." don't think installing software on thing option, tried hand @ networking 2 via ethernet. have not been able reach proper connection between two, , have been trying use walkthroughs posted on apple's website connection. made sure turn on file sharing on imac, , still can't computer register on macbook pro's network. have experience this? other recommendations? here specs of imac (don't laugh!)
