Do you think I will be able to use my "Applecare for iPad" on the iPad 3?

now new ipad has been announced, , in 8 days, think able use "applecare protection plan ipad" purchased few weeks ago on ipad 3?

had bought intention of putting on wife's ipad 2, have sold now, , bought ipad 3 too, , use applecare, if poss.

i'm pretty sure it's per-device basis. if check serial number on ipad, show applecare linked ipad. sure can't change it.
