Why does headset play/pause button malfunction on 4s?

hi,

every 2-3 weeks or play/pause button on headset stops working on
4s. have "reset settings" , works again. on 5.0.1. have problem?

noticed att iphone 4s(which has problem) drains more battery other verizon 4s when left overnight during day when moving around , battery drain on verizon miniscule. both on 5.0.1.
