RAM upgrade worth it?

i've been thinking upgrading ram in mac pro 8gb 16gb have couple questions:

1. i'm using computer fcp 7, cs 5 (mostly photoshop) , aperture, logic studio , few other misc. pro apps. see of improvement in speed doubling ram , speed worth $200-400 upgrade cost?? doesn't fcp 7 support 4gb anyway?

2. right have 4x1gb cards , 2x 2gb cards installed, have 1 free slot. better off buying pair of 4gb cards fill last spot, or best trade in chips , 2gb cards, or perhaps 4x4gb? more ram on less chips better, right? 8 matching chips better mismatched chips of same total capacity?

the answer #1 same everyone. if running out of ram, ram upgrade worth , best bang buck upgrade. if not running out of ram, ram upgrade not provide noticeable increase in performance @ all. know if running out of ram; keep eye on while doing work.
