Need some tips/advice!

hey guys,

i'm kind of newbie around these parts, bare me.

tips on saving 1st mac laptop?

i'm iphone addict , want take plunge mac computer world.

i've set aside money "spending funds" (my wife & allocate spending funds each of us) save each month. @ rate, i'll able save $50 1st , 2nd half of month. so, $100/mo. on that. no more that, otherwise won't have cash frequent coffee/lunch trips during week. :d i'm selling bunch of random stuff of mine i've had don't use anymore, on ebay. they're smaller items, hey, it'll add up. know, old electronics, dvd's, etc.

work in banking , set-up savings account goal. i'm still working on degree (on side, have 5-year-old , both work full-time.. we're young parents), i'd classify student discount.

have account taxes, other fees (at apple store, online, etc.) , whatever other misc things come up. maybe insurance or warranty. i'm type freaks out idea of dropping iphone, best warranty/insurance.

@ first, shooting macbook air.. because don't whole lot surf web, listen music, store family photos/videos, , use microsoft office extensively. i've been told buddy of mine should shell out money 13" macbook pro. haven't decided yet. it'd helpful have disk drive.

i'm trying avoid financing options, no longer have credit card debt (or debt of kind, other cars , mortgage), i'm trying go responsible route. :d

sorry rambling!

i'll sum topic in 3 questions:

1. other tips me achieve goal?
2. how did purchase first mac laptop/computer?
3. apple store best place buy it? (we love buying our new iphones there.. better at&t store!)

thanks!

1) start watching refurbished store.... it's on apple store page, bottom left corner. deals come , go there... in space of hours. if start watching now, , comparing how prices compare "new" you'll sense of "good" deal , "great" deal. have time.... works advantage on refurb store.

2) when have funds, able 'pounce' on "great" deal. set apple id ahead of time... less stressful if aren't worried scooping 'your' new laptop while setting apple id 1st time.

3) don't worry saving extended warranty - applecare - yet. have year date of purchase add applecare... can save ac after purchase.... don't push year right out 364 days - buy after 11 months safe.

4) best deals on models have been replaced newly released model. if normal household user, these "obsolete" model more enough needs... save money.

luck.
