How to backup iOS contacts to new Mac

i bought used mac mini see if i'd mac environment, updated software in latest versions , of snow leopard, model tool old upgrade lion.

used sync iphone , ipad windows pc , icloud , want use mac main itunes account authorised , clicked buttons needed synching (and copied whole windows itunes folder mac)

whatever tried can't work. can tell me how can send ios contacts, bookmarks ansd ical events respective software on mac mini?? each time sync phone mac none of data goes t mac

i've used mobile me , use icloud. when first got idevice (ipod touch), let itunes "sync" data meant set email preferences no contact or calendar or email data transferred during "sync". allowed mobile me sync data wirelessly , have never given thought. why can't upgrade lion? ram? popped open 3 of our old minis , upgraded ram 2 gb myself. run lion fine. opening older mini bit of adventure. must pry around edges metal putty knife once started cover comes off easily. owc has posted youtube video here. there screws antennas , ribbon cable deal with. got whole thing in under 10 minutes i've done multiple times.

if whole putty knife method sounds much, perhaps best continue looking more conventional method sync such usb cable or "workaround" such 1 detailed here to set snow leopard apps sync icloud...

close address (apple key + q)

open terminal

cd library/application\ support/addressbook/sources

ls -l (search latest updated directory)

cd [the directory name]

nano configuration.plist

ctrl + w (search) servername

change servername entering format

https://pxx-contacts.icloud.com:443/xxxx icloud id xxxxxx/principal

10.change username

username%40xxxx.com: password

ctrl + x , save

open address book, icloud should syncing!
