Converting home video library from PC = aspect ratio issues

hi all, relatively new apple, , haven't used video work. i'm learning surely, of course 30 years in non-apple environments can make process trying @ times . anyway, i'm trying import bunch of raw video data pc 2011 2.7 i5 imac. these vids recorded on ~4 year old panasonic sdr-h200, , copied mod files directly pc hd. copied these files directly imac hd.

picked ivl conversion mod, quickly, , dumps them itunes. however, find of these hd vids (16:9 ntsc) coming out in 4:3 format, resulting in vertically stretched look. i'm not sure change happened, @ videocam, pc, ivl, or itunes point in conversion, i'm scratching head here trying find solution, , these vids proper widescreen format.

fwiw, there moi file goes along each mod file, if means anything. know able view files in 16:9 on pc. ideas?

sorry if has been answered before, i've been through quite few aspect ratio threads, still haven't hit right answer yet. appreciated!

long story short ntsc footage 4x3 , file meta data that's supposed tell player "hey, when play me need displayed 16x9" either missing or not being read on mac.

i'm not familiar ivl give mpeg streamclip shot @ converting footage , see if better results (it's free).
