After repair strange rubber tab coming out of air vent.

i went genius bar keyboard issue. replaced topcase on macbook air. working fine, noticed black in hinge area after got home. @ first thought had fallen down space there, upon trying remove realized kind of rubber tab emerging fifth left vent hole. have idea might be?
