noob; Should I update my OS?

i've had macbook 4-5 years , have never thought updating os, until now.
see there have been few updates since .
, started wondering if idea upgrade 10.5.8 macbook (2ghz intel core 2 duo) snow leopard , lion.
there risks, there need besides being able software won't work on old system, etc.

in short; should i?

 

it's you. i'm using 10.5.8 , have no immediate plans upgrade lion. mac still need do, , it's "snappy" enough me, have no compelling reason "improve" it. current plan upgrade os when mac (only 4 years old) dies , have buy new one.
