Camera roll and photo stream question

i understand how photo stream works wanting check something.

on mac have events in iphoto showing photo stream past few months, safe delete photos camera roll once in photo stream on mac? correct in thinking once there on mac in iphoto not using icloud , can delete them phone , remain on mac? scared delete camera roll @ min
