Help converting AVI h.264 to use in iMovie


hello,

can ask help...
bought cheap video camera records files following...

input #0, avi, 'imag0009.avi':
metadata:
date : 2012-02-26
icrt : 09:15:20
comment :
duration: 00:00:05.60, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 9091 kb/s
stream #0.0: video: h264 (main), yuv420p, 1440x1080 [par 4:3 dar 16:9], par 1:1 dar 4:3, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 29.97 tbn, 59.94 tbc
stream #0.1: audio: aac, 48000 hz, stereo, s16, 128 kb/s

able play them in imovie no image loss. have been using ffmpeg command line copy them mp4 or mov.

ffmpeg -i imag0009.avi -y -vcodec copy myvideo.mp4

flashes through , creates mp4 copy imovie still not show in project.

have command line know work file in imovie 09?

  • get mpeg streamclip.
  • open .avi file in mpeg streamclip.

  • go file > export quicktime (cmd+e).
    [​img]
  • select "apple intermediate codec" under compression.
    [​img]
  • leave sound @ uncompressed , uncheck interlaced scaling, footage progressive.
    [​img]

if have several video files, can use mpeg streamclip's batch list:

.mov files use apple intermediate codec, codec imovie understands , uses , doesn't need transcode anymore.
