iPhone 3G Photos Not Showing (not recognized as a camera)

hi there, mother upgraded iphone 3g iphone 4s , it, has on 400 photos wants transfered new phone.

problem while 3g being recognized in itunes (and doing manual sync), camera, , therefore photos, not being recognized computer. i've tried connecting 3g both windows , mac computer , same problem persists no mater software use: image capture, iphoto, picaso, hp image zone, etc. message explains "there no camera or scanner connected". can't manually follow path of folders lead me pictures — thing ever recognizes 3g being connected device itunes.

i've tried turning iphone on/off — noticed own 1st generation iphone's photos weren't being recognized , did trick still no luck 3g. support articles can find suggest adding 3g "imaging device" on windows (control panel -> scanners , cameras) it's on list. mentioned earlier, itunes absolutely software realizes 3g connected.

thing can think of know mom didn't regularly use itunes iphone, hardly ever got synced computer. believe few of photos on 3g synced our desktop folders, may have been times.

@ rate, @ loss , have no idea do. tried calling apple deemed issue need taken care of apple care service — 3g being out of warranty means having pay $29.99 troubleshooting assistance, no thanks...

appreciate it. let me know if additional information needed.

thanks!
