How to I get Final Cut log & capture to recognize this Sony HDV deck?

i'm using final cut 6.06 sony hvr-1500 deck. need use digitize mini dv tapes, , though log & capture window allows me control deck remotely (pause, play, rewind, etc), , though says "vtr ok" underneath, still says "preview disabled" on screen , whenever attempt capture, says there no video. have audio & video settings set on dv ntsc , firewire ntsc.

on hvr-1500 deck, have set ilink. correct? needed? there's blinking orange light above letters "in" rather hdv or dvcam, should have set above dvcam instead? how switch over? honest know nothing need deck work.

i've got digitize 40 hours of footage in next 3 days. help!
