Terminal brew issue installing fontforge

hello, trying install font forge. found explanation : http://joewong.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/how-to-install-fontforge-on-mac-os-x.html went through instructions got stuck on part afte "brew install cairo --use-clang" install fontforge "brew install fontforge --use-gcc" following error:

==> installing fontforge dependency: gettext
error: gcc not found

got warning have macports or fink installed ( think installed macports gimp) looked through code , found line when installed brew:

warning: following *evil* dylibs exist in /usr/local/lib
may break builds or worse. should consider deleting them:
/usr/local/lib/libssl.0.9.8.dylib

question 1: libssl, how did in computer , why should delete it? (ok, question 1a, 1b , 1c...)

question 2: how remove it?

terminal beginner, went through tutorial here:
http://guides.macrumors.com/terminal

not find /usr/local/libpath , putting libssl in spotlight found libssl.1.0.0.dylib in /opt/local/lib/ hidden file?

advice appreciated.

sounds gcc isn't installed. if don't have xcode installed should install it. xcode installs gcc , other bits required compilation.

delete dylibs if 100% sure of you're doing.
